REPORT BY THE WORLD SOLAR COMMISSION
Background: The Executive Board, by 145 EX/Decision 5.3.2, approved the Statutes of the World Solar Commission. Further to the “Report by the World Solar Commission”, submitted to the General Conference at its 29th session, updated information is presented to the 30th session of the General Conference.
Purpose: The report gives some examples of legislative actions and various measures taken by several members of the World Solar Commission favouring the development of renewable energy technologies at national level; it mentions the meetings held in various regions of the world on business and investment opportunities to enhance the implementation of the World Solar Programme 1996-2005; and describes some high priority national projects initiated by the Secretariat of the Commission and the major partners of the World Solar Summit Process. Information is also provided on decisions and resolutions of the governing bodies of
UNESCO and the United Nations on the World Solar Programme 1996-2005.
